CAPonLITTER Project
A Collaborative Effort to Reduce Single-Use Plastics in Tourism
The CAPonLITTER Project is an initiative aimed at reducing the use of single-use plastics in coastal tourism. With the growing awareness of plastic pollution and its impact on marine ecosystems, this project has worked to support hotels and tour operators in implementing sustainable alternatives that benefit both businesses and the environment.
35 tons
of single-use plastic eliminated annually in participating hotels
31,5%
cost savings on disposable plastic items
Project Overview
The project was implemented in Fuerteventura, where Travel Without Plastic collaborated with local stakeholders to help businesses transition away from disposable plastics. By working closely with hotels and tourism operators, CAPonLITTER provided practical guidance, tools, and solutions that led to measurable reductions in plastic waste.
